Aufgabenstellung:
Introduction:
Cast iron is used in a variety of industrial applications, for it is cheap and complex component-shapes are easy to produce. Yet there are some downsides like bad corrosion resistance or wear and tear behaviour. This leads to investigating surface welding processes and materials to avoid those disadvantages.
There are many materials that qualify to apply on cast iron, from which 2 are selected: Copper-Base alloys and FeCrNi alloys. The material is supposed to be deposited on the surface of the cast alloy with a Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process and a Plasma Powder Welding process.


Task:
This literature research deals with three topics: a) The welding of cast iron, b) surface welding with GMAW and Plasma Powder, c) The welding of Copper and FeCrNi alloy.
At first, your task will be to sum up the three topics individually. Afterwards, a connection between them has to be made, so a recommendation for the production of surfacing welds on cast iron is worked out.
